Vintage large hand-made felt and faux fur Walrus hand puppet, circa 1969, believed to originate from a school or local theater production of Carnival—the Broadway musical (1961) that famously featured the walrus character Horrible Henry. The style strongly reflects Bob Baker–era carnival and theatrical puppetry.

We contacted the Bob Baker Marionette Theater (Los Angeles) for insight. Per their response, Carnival was frequently staged by schools after touring. They also noted there is a chance Bob Baker may have assisted with fabrication for the original show or later local productions, or influenced similar spin-off pieces.

While not a documented cataloged Bob Baker puppet, its era, character, Southern California origin, and construction suggest a possible connection or influence within the Bob Baker Marionette Theater sphere.

Measures 25 inches. Quality hand construction intended for live stage use. Includes photo of the original note found with it
